Puppets and Parables DVD is a very useful DVD of 10 Bible parables of Jesus: The Lost Sheep, The Prodigal Son, The Great Feast, The House on the Rock, The Unforgiving Servant, The Parable of the Talents, The Midnight Visitor, The Amazing Pearl, The Rich Farmer and The Good Samaritan.
Each story has a puppet retelling the story from the Bible (sometimes using quite hard language, e.g. outcasts, religious leaders, inheritance) and then the puppets follow this up with a modern day example, e.g. getting lost at the zoo – Lost Sheep, sandcastle competition – House on the Rock. Each example is about an experience children can relate to.
There is a link to the teachers’ notes on a website, but you need to buy these.
You can just watch the ‘Parables’, or watch with sign language or with subtitles. Ideal for special needs groups. Each story is up to 10 minutes long and very suitable for Nursery to Year 2 children. The DVD has many uses within a school or church setting.
