If you have enjoyed the award-winning Jesus through Art in your school or church, then this book is for you!

Margaret Cooling has again used her extensive knowledge of world art, Christianity and education to create another must-have book.

Its format is useful, informative and inspires creativity.  The book comprises 24, A3 colour prints of world art, each with a focus on different concepts within Christianity, such as Prayer, Eucharist or Forgiveness.  Each picture has on its reverse: key questions, art background, religious background, suggestions for introducing the image, conversation points, differentiated activities (Level 2 – Level 7), a reflection, assessment activities and a list of appropriate web and book resources.  In addition there are two copy-masters for each painting to scaffold independent, reflective work.

Margaret has also provided five general models for approaching art in RE with useful copy-masters and a wide collection of art and RE websites to support independent research.

A final bonus is having all the works on a CD-Rom, as well as extra material to support the art eg a child-friendly Apostles’ Creed or Maori designs.

As I read this book, my brain fizzed with ideas for its use.  What a gift - buy it and use it!
