Out of the many resources on the market to help teachers teach the Easter Story, this one has excellent content for wide and flexible use, and presents good value for money. It uses eight contemporary works of art (on flimsy A4 card and CD ROM) to explore Easter, introducing pupils and teachers to Christian understanding in different cultures and media. High quality explanatory notes and teaching questions combine with a focus on visual learning and creative responses, to make it useful and accessible for RE lessons and collective worship times. It has clear Bible notes and challenging learning activities including thinking skills, exploring feelings and emotions through drama and the comparison of various sources of belief. Such activities help teachers move pupils beyond retelling the Easter Story, enabling them to get inside it and make personal Attainment Target 2 responses to it. Useful information on progression is provided in the book and exemplified on the CD ROM, which is also packed full of inspirational ideas from specific school contexts and a humorous pedagogical fantasy - all good stuff for training staff too.
