Senior Volunteer Network (SVN)  After another successful year of completed projects, pray for projects coming up in many countries. Pray that volunteers will come forward to take responsibility for these. (See website for further details: www.svnet.org.) 

July 7.

Christian teaching assistants, classroom assistants, lab technicians, counsellors, learning mentors, etc need prayer as they serve God in their work with children and adults. Pray for all who love the Lord Jesus Christ and serve Him in these roles. 

July 8.

Chile  The School for Deaf Children in Temuco is going through a financial crisis and has had to reduce its staff. Pray for strength for students and staff during these difficult times. 

July 9.

Schools are, for many young people, the only secure places in their lives. For others, school means anxiety and sometimes fear. Pray for God’s love to fill a school you know. 

July 10.

ICT teachers have responsibility for young people’s ICT literacy in a competitive world. Pray that they will communicate ethical outlooks on communications. 

July 11.

TCF (Teachers’ Christian Fellowship) Malaysia asks for prayer for more Christian youths to enter the teaching profession. 

July 12.

PSALM 68:19 [NIV] Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens.

July 13.

Murree Christian School, Pakistan, praises God for new staff who will arrive for 2009/10. Pray for their preparation in serving at the boarding school for children of workers there. Pray for graduates as they 'go into all the world'.

July 14.

Carol Horne  Pray for Carol, ACT’s Office Manager, at this busy time of year as she processes membership renewals.

July 15.

School governors  Thank God for the many hundreds of Christians who are effective and influential school governors. Pray for their ongoing work and witness.

July 16.

Uganda Shedrack Musinguzi, UCTA (Uganda Christian Teachers Association) National Coordinator says: ‘Pray for the ministry of UCTA  to continue strongly in Uganda schools and colleges. Pray that God will continue to provide resources for this ministry to stand strong.’

July 17.

St Andrew’s College, Paraguay  A new generation of independently-minded young people never experienced the dictatorship which dominated Paraguay for 35 years. This poses challenges in terms of pupil discipline. Pray that young people will want to learn to love and serve their Lord by loving and serving their neighbour and their nation, and being good stewards of the world’s God-given resources.

Jan Hodgkinson, ACT's secretary, updates the ACT website, collates prayer requests for the ACT Prayer Diary and helps to produce ACT Now. Please pray for her today.

ACT website  Thank God for ACT’s website and pray that many more Christians working in education will join ACT via the website.

School administrative staff, cooks, cleaners, caretakers, etc  Lift to the Lord all who provide services in education which benefit learners of all ages. Pray that their contribution is never trivialised and that their professional and personal needs are not overlooked. Thank God especially for Christians in these positions and for their witness in schools.

School Holidays  As schools close for the Summer holidays, please pray for refreshment and relaxation for students, teachers and all involved with the day-to-day running of schools. 

July 23.

European Educator's Christian Association (EurECA)  Please pray for John Shortt today as he speaks at a seminar for Christian teachers at the New Horizon Conference in Northern Ireland. 

July 24.

All teachers throughout the UK  Pray that they may know the Lord’s presence with them, and know His wisdom as they deal with their students and colleagues. 

July 25.

ACT  Pray for the ACT Board members as they attend to ACT business during the interregnum. Pray also for Rupert Kaye, ACT’s past CEO as he works to complete his EdD (Education Doctorate) this year.

JOHN 12:46 [NIV] I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

Paraguay  The Chacarita is a poor area of Asunción where St Andrew’s Annexe School is situated. Increased use of drugs and alcohol are making it a more dangerous place. Pray for the safety of staff and pupils – and their witness. 

July 28.

ACT Local Groups  Pray that through ACT's network of local groups God will richly bless Christians working in education. Ask that God will raise up more Local Contacts and Event Organisers to carry out His work. 

July 29.

Chile  William Wilson School at Chol-Chol has good plans for the future, but is currently weakened in the area of Christian education. Please pray for new mature Christian influence. 

July 30.

Teachers in small, rural schools often feel lonely and isolated. Training courses and support networks are not always sensitive to their needs or sympathetic to their workload. Pray they will receive support and encouragement.

July 31.

Christian teachers in poorer countries Pray for those whose resources, support and training have to be augmented by their own commitment, enterprise and love for children. 

August 1.

European Educator's Christian Association (EurECA)  Please pray for John Shortt today as he commences a three-month sabbatical.

August 2.

School assemblies and acts of collective worship  Thank God for opportunities for Christian staff to boldly proclaim the Christian message throughout the year.

Jesus Christ  Thank God for the wonderful gift of Jesus. Pray that, through the faithful witness of Christians working in education, children and young people will come to know Jesus as their Saviour, Lord and Friend. 

August 5.

ACT membership  Please pray that Christians working in schools and colleges will join ACT.
